CapitalW collective origin story
“The time is now!”
CapitalW Collective began its incubation in 2022. Witnessing the continued visual absence of women from multiple mortgage capital markets conferences, panels, webinars, and leadership positions, a group of women decided they could be the change that was needed in the industry.
Representation Matters in Mortgage Capital Markets
The opening paragraph to the Women in the Workplace 2023 report from McKinsey, in partnership with LeanIn.Org, perfectly sums up what CapitalW believes to be true: “Women are more ambitious than ever, and workplace flexibility is fueling them. Yet despite some hard-fought gains, women’s representation is not keeping pace.”
The ratio of women to men representing companies in the mortgage capital markets space remains visibly low. At CapitalW, we passionately assert that all jobs should be held by qualified candidates; hires lacking merit or based solely on gender do not guarantee successful outcomes for organizations. However, numerous studies, including Morgan Stanley’s 2023 “Gender Diversity Keeps Paying Dividends”, suggest that workplace gender equality continues to boost companies’ performance.
Please join us in advocating greater parity for women in mortgage capital markets.
